These units keep the temperature and humidity constant throughout the year. Not a summer afternoon when you feel like you are in a kiln. No stuffy, heavy air falling down on all you possess. Normal, ordinary circumstances, conditions that permit possessions to rest and not run, but to rot.

The greatest beneficiaries are wood furniture. Wood is a reactive one, it takes the water and swells, dries and contractions. The outcome is sticky-sticky drawers, curvy tabletops and loose joints as one ages. Electronics must have the same stability. Laptops, speakers, cameras, old consoles – all of them have small circuits, which are, actually, endangered by humidity. Paper in particular is susceptible. Photo albums, legal documents, notebooks, comic books – all of them are easy to get wet. The aftereffects are also well known: swamped pages, smeared ink, that stale odor, which tells one that something has already been forgotten. Clothes are also more resistant in the same environment. Clothes get weak when subjected to constant heat. Leather cracks in case of drying air. Another sensitive case would be in musical instruments. Guitars, violin, pianos are very sensitive to changes in humidity – wood swells, strings go out of tune and tone is lost.
